What We Do The Area Agency on Aging of Northwest Georgia (AAA) provides information on and access to home and community-based services for elderly and/or disabled Georgians, their families, and other caregivers. The Gateway system seeks to remove barriers to information about and access to services, which support older and disabled Georgians remaining in their homes and communities. The AAA provides seniors opportunities to maintain their activity, independence, and dignity through a comprehensive, coordinated system of services and support. The AAA assesses need, advocates for seniors, engages community support, coordinates program funding, and monitors and evaluates the work of service providers to ensure that seniors receive high quality assistance. To refer someone for eligibility screening, please download the referral form, complete it, and fax to (706) 802-5508.
News & Notes 06/04/2009 - The Northwest Georgia AAA would like to thank those of you who participated in our recent survey. The survey was limited to 100 responses, and we received them all in just three short days, so the survey is now closed! Survey results, as well as a follow-up survey will be posted soon. Thanks again for your participation. 06/01/2009 - You can now search for services in your area online! Simply go to GeorgiaServicesForSeniors.org. Of course, if you can't find what you're looking for, you can still call our Gateway for more information. Just dial 1-800-759-2963. 5/22/2009 - Minutes have been posted from the Jan and Apr 2009 Elder Rights Council Meetings. To access the minutes or training materials, please click here.
DHR/DFCS has unveiled www.compass.ga.gov which is a web site that allows "pre-screening" for all DHR offered services, including Aging Services. The only interactive application currently available is for Food Stamps. Consumers can apply on line, check the status of their application on-line and, in some pilot counties, report changes to their food stamp worker. Do you know that you can access
information and
applications for over 250 programs that can help you pay for
prescription and other health-care costs, including state pharmacy programs,
patient assistance programs, and your state's Medicaid and Medicare Savings
Programs with
BenefitsCheckUp? In general, most company-sponsored patient assistance
programs are designed for people with lower incomes (if single, annual income up
to $26,400, or if married, annual income up to $28,000). However, each program
has its own set of guidelines and should be contacted directly for eligibility
determinations.
